Job Description Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Duties span neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations, performing all responsibilities of a Respiratory Care Practitioner level III.

Essential Functions

Expert in delivering specialty gases on intra‑facility transport

Initiate and participate in decision‑making/evaluation of new equipment and clinical procedures

Review, revise and develop policy and procedure as required

Serve as a primary resource for asthma education and TJC compliance and trach education

Serve as a resource and mentor to colleagues and other healthcare professionals

Perform relief charge duties

Serve as a resource for therapies (e.g., pulmonary vasodilators, therapeutic medical gases, complex modalities, unusual treatments/medications)

Perform inter‑facility transports with medical gases (air and ground)

Provide department‑specific onboarding to new hires/travelers within the department

Assist with ventilator competency check‑offs for new hires/travelers within the department

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a CoARC approved respiratory care program

Three (3) years of practice as an RCP at LPCHS

Seven (7) years of experience as an RCP in a Neo‑Peds Critical Care facility, including completed time in the Respiratory Care Residency Program

NICU Level 3, Pediatric Trauma Level 1

Licenses/Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), RCP (State of California), RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist), NPS (Neonatal Pediatric Specialist), PALS, ACLS

Knowledge

Ability to adapt communication to the receiver’s needs and level of understanding

Knowledge of computer systems, software, medical terminology and new technologies

Understanding of indications, contraindications, and hazards of mechanical ventilation and related techniques

Critical thinking, analysis and conclusion formulation

Qualifications

RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support or Basic Life Support by AHA

Respiratory Care Practitioner by California Respiratory Care Board

NRP Provider Card by AAP

RQI Healthcare Provider Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Pediatric Advanced Life Support by AHA (within 90 days of hire)

NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support by AHA

RQI Healthcare Provider Advanced Life Support

Pay Range Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary may be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and internal equity. Typical new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range:
