Nursing Technician (p/t)- E.D. - Day/Eve

Rotating 0700-1530, 0900-1730, or 1500-2330, all other weekends and holidays
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and a Certified Nursing Assistant or a licensed EMT in the State of Connecticut.
Summary To provides nursing care to a patient or group of patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Responsibilities
Provides patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Prioritizes assignments in consultation with the RN; Performs procedures as identified by the Skills Checklist (e.g., splinting, EKGs and wound care); Refers to and utilizes appropriate resources; Responds promptly to patient care needs; Maintains a safe patient environment incorporating Norwalk Hospital Policies and Procedures; Self‑directed, offers assistance with unit needs, and covers other team members as needed.
Communicates with patients, visitors and coworkers within the scope of responsibilities in a courteous manner; Observes and reports to Registered Nurse all changes in patient condition, observations or occurrences of an unusual nature in a clear and concise manner; Documents accurately patient data on appropriate forms (e.g., ED Flow Sheet); Obtains information necessary to carry out patient care assignments, for example: report and/or active order profile sheets.
Demonstrates compliance with identified policies and procedures in carrying out unit assignments (e.g., stocking, equipment maintenance); Follows mini‑protocols; Maintains computer skills (e.g., Eclipys and Cerner, enters orders/patient charges and Emerging data); Demonstrates willingness to assist with and improve unit operations; Maintains neat and orderly appearance and environment; Completes all competencies and annual requirements as established by the ED Management team (e.g., EKGs, Point of Care Testing, restraints/Code Green) and utilizes awareness of Least Restrictive Measures; Maintains personal Educational Record.
Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cost efficient and proper manner (e.g., stocking and maintenance of equipment); Reports problems with supplies and equipment to appropriate personnel for corrective action; Maintains supplies as per established par levels in the ED and Express Care.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
