Overview As a

Senior Project Engineer

in Managed IT, you will lead the technical execution of complex projects, ensuring seamless delivery for clients. You will act as a subject matter expert, driving successful implementations across core technologies such as servers, virtualization, networking, and cloud solutions. Beyond hands‑on technical work, you will influence process improvements, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with sales, project management, and vendor teams to achieve operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities Pre‑Sales

Participate in phone conferences and in‑person meetings with the Pre‑Sales Engineering Team to sign off on proposed solutions.

Create and validate Scope of Work (SOW) documents to standardize Impact’s solutions for new and existing clients.

Project Work

Lead technical projects, demonstrating mastery of Windows Server, VMware, Hyper‑V, Nutanix, enterprise storage, Exchange, firewalls, switching, routing, wireless, Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, Intune, and Azure.

Serve as the primary technical resource and subject‑matter expert, resolving complex challenges and ensuring smooth progression through all project phases.

Document all project deliverables and create/refine SOPs for project execution.

Conduct post‑project reviews to identify lessons learned and integrate process improvements.

Mentor and support junior engineers.

Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to secure resources, troubleshoot issues, and ensure successful project outcomes.

Evaluate and refine project implementation processes to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality.

Qualifications

Minimum 7 years of experience as a Network or Systems Engineer, or less with a Master’s degree.

Proven ability to guide and support junior engineers.

Experience leading technical aspects of projects, ensuring successful delivery.

Server Administration

Expertise in Windows Server 2012‑2022, including deployment and optimization.

Advanced Active Directory design and Group Policy management.

Experience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, and Remote Desktop Services.

Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, and domain/network configurations.

Knowledge of VMware, Hyper‑V, and Nutanix virtualization.

Experience managing enterprise storage solutions such as SAN, NAS, shared storage, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel.

Networking and Cloud Solutions

Proficiency with firewalls, switches, and networking technologies (Cisco, Meraki, HPE, Fortinet, Palo Alto, SonicWall).

Advanced understanding of wireless, routing, and switching architectures.

Expertise in disaster recovery solutions, backup technologies, and business continuity planning.

Extensive experience with Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Intune, and other cloud platforms.

Experience with mobile operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows).

Tier 3 advanced support skills.

Compensation The wage range for this role is $100,000‑$130,000, dependent on experience and expertise.
