To date, we have acquired and operated 27 industrial properties totaling 4.3 million square feet of space located in CA, TX, GA, FL, OH, OK and MI.
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the firm’s financial and accounting functions, manage corporate and property‑level reporting, and support strategic initiatives across our growing portfolio.
This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong real‑estate background who thrives in an entrepreneurial, performance‑driven environment. The Controller will play a key role in managing financial operations, investor reporting, and system processes as Avistone continues to expand its portfolio and investment platform.
Location: Englewood, CO – the position will work three days per week in our office.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management and Reporting
Oversee and execute all accounting operations across multiple legal entities, including property‑level and consolidated reporting while working closely with our VP of Asset Management to ensure accuracy and alignment.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and/or tax accounting.
Manage the month‑end close, cash management, and intercompany reconciliations.
Lead external audits, lender compliance reporting, and tax preparation coordination.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial procedures.
Investment and Fund Accounting
Administer accounting for investor capital, including capital calls, distributions, preferred returns, and promotes.
Track investor equity, ownership allocations, and fund‑level performance metrics.
Prepare quarterly investor financial packages and support communications with limited partners.
Coordinate with fund administrators, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
Operations and Systems
Lead MRI and QuickBooks accounting system optimization to improve scalability and reporting accuracy.
Manage bank relationships and compliance with debt covenants.
Supervise accounting team members and third‑party resources.
Implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy in reporting and forecasting.
Strategic and Transactional Support
Support the CEO and acquisitions team with financial analysis, due diligence, and transaction structuring.
Contribute to underwriting review, refinancing, and disposition processes.
Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and portfolio‑level performance dashboards.
Provide proactive financial insights to support decision‑making and strategic planning.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
Minimum 8 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.
Strong background in real‑estate investment, fund accounting, or commercial property operations.
Proficiency in GAAP, multi‑entity consolidations, and investment waterfall structures.
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills with a high attention to detail.
Self‑starter with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
Compensation
Base Salary: $125,000 – $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
Performance Bonus: Annual, based on company and individual performance
