A solo attorney specializing exclusively in Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Administration in Manchester, NH, seeks a motivated and experienced Paralegal. This is a critical role that requires a high degree of independence, discretion, and direct client interaction. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing compassionate and meticulous support to ensure the efficient management of a busy, client‑focused practice.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting:
Prepare drafts of core estate planning documents, including Wills, Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Healthcare Directives.
Execution:
Coordinate and manage document signings (closings), ensuring all documents are executed correctly and notarized according to New Hampshire law.
Maintenance:
Manage and maintain all client files (physical and electronic) and ensure proper safekeeping of original estate planning documents.
Probate Filings:
Prepare all necessary forms and filings for formal and informal probate proceedings in New Hampshire Probate Courts.
Asset Transfer:
Assist with the funding of trusts, including preparing and recording deeds, re‑titling assets, and managing beneficiary forms.
Inventory & Accounting:
Draft estate and trust inventories and assist with annual accountings.
Client Communication:
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, answering routine questions and acting as a professional liaison between the attorney and clients.
Scheduling & Billing:
Manage the attorney's calendar, schedule client meetings and deadlines, and assist with time entry and monthly billing processes.
Legal Research:
Conduct basic legal research as needed on New Hampshire statutes and case law related to estate matters.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of dedicated paralegal experience with significant emphasis on Estate Planning and/or Probate.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate (or equivalent demonstrable experience).
NH Law Knowledge:
Deep working knowledge of New Hampshire probate and trust laws is highly preferred.
MA Law Knowledge:
Plus!
Meticulous attention to detail
and exceptional proofreading skills.
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
(Word and Outlook essential).
Legal software experience
(practice management, document assembly) is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and client service skills , with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with empathy and discretion.
