Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering The Department of Land Resources and Environmental Sciences at Montana State University Bozeman invites applications for a tenure‑track position at the level of Assistant Professor with expertise in agricultural process engineering focused on value‑added agricultural products. The preferred start date is August 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities • 55 % research (MAES), 35 % teaching (COA), 10 % service

Research will focus on value‑added agriculture such as fiber use/transformation, high‑value product transformation for cereals, oilseed crops, horticultural products, and food systems engineering for Montana‑produced commodities. The candidate will also support a new degree program in Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in agricultural engineering or a closely related engineering field by the start date.

Demonstrated potential for research achievement in value‑added agricultural product design and engineering.

Evidence of strong research communication skills, including peer‑reviewed publications.

Demonstrated potential for teaching, effective mentoring and training of students, employees, or early‑career professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

Record of innovative research advancing the fundamental understanding of value‑added agricultural product design and engineering.

Demonstrated potential to secure funding via successful grant proposals.

Ability and interest to work collaboratively across disciplines and lead interdisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students with diverse backgrounds.
