Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Tenure‑track faculty position in the Gianforte School of Computing (GSoC) at Montana State University, Office of Student Engagement.
Position Overview We are seeking an Assistant Professor with strong expertise in machine learning and a track record of research and teaching excellence in Computer Science. The role involves developing a nationally recognized, externally funded research program and delivering undergraduate and graduate instruction.
Responsibilities
Develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program.
Produce scholarly works and contribute to the faculty’s research output.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students, and provide advisement.
Participate in professional, service, and outreach activities.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field (or expected completion).
Evidence of a research portfolio and scholarly achievements.
Machine learning expertise to contribute to the NSF EPScOR grant
SMART FireS .
Potential to build a nationally recognized, externally funded research program.
Preferred Qualifications
Research and teaching expertise that enhances GSoC’s capabilities.
Ability to engage a diverse student body and collaborate with faculty and staff.
Candidate Attributes
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to inspire and mentor students.
Capability to establish a funded research program.
Effective teaching skills and commitment to student success.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
