Cobol software engineer - Digital Bank For this position, we offer a 2-year employment contract with potential for extension.
This position is based at our friendly office in Warsaw, Poland and you will join our Digital Bank Open for Business 2 Team. The team is a part of the Omnichannel domain that is focusing on new business initiatives e.g. Digital Bank 2.0 with seven agile teams that develop online and mobile banking solutions for the banks.
The Mainframe Engineer role offers the opportunity to work within one of the strategic initiatives in BEC in a collaborative environment with the other Digital Bank Teams. At BEC, we prefer to collaborate often in the office, but we also keep the opportunity to
work remotely up to 8 days per month . Your direct manager will be
Camilla Fremming Hansen.
Primary tasks & responsibilities:
Write well‑designed, testable, efficient COBOL/CICS/DB2 code for complex banking solutions.
Design solution architecture and drive development within an agile team.
Engage with internal stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Collaborate closely and share knowledge across Digital Bank teams.
Apply Scrum and DevOps practices for iterative, high‑quality delivery.
Prepare clear technical and procedural documentation.
Partner with the Product Owner and cross‑functional teams to plan and deliver increments.
To succeed, you’ll have:
A curious, open mindset and a passion for knowledge‑sharing.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Hands‑on experience with
COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, SQL, IDz/RDz, Erwin .
A positive approach to unit/automated testing.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to have:
Experience with
Java, REST, APIs, Spring Framework .
