Position Title: Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator
Location: Arcola, Illinois
Starting Pay: $25 per hour DOE
YOUR OPPORTUNITY The Herff Jones production team, based in Arcola, IL, is looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team.
Here’s How You’ll Make an Impact The primary focus for this position is to ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations at a federal, state, and local level, injury prevention and reduction, and providing support and resources to the facility.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
Conduct EHS training for employees, including onboarding and refresher courses.
Maintain and submit regulatory reports and documentation (e.g., OSHA 300 Log).
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and correct hazards.
Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Manage chemical inventories, SDS documentation, and hazardous waste disposal.
Coordinate emergency preparedness drills and maintain emergency equipment.
Monitor and improve workplace ergonomics to reduce injuries.
Facilitate safety committee meetings and communicate EHS updates to leadership and staff.
Maintain EHS metrics in corporate systems and provide regular performance reports.
Support implementation of company EHS programs and initiatives to reduce risks.
Serve as a secondary contact for regulatory agencies during inspections or inquiries.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
3-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and lead safety initiatives.
Physical Activities
Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and kneeling.
Work in moderate to high noise environments.
