Cal Poly is committed to the teacher-scholar model. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in undergraduate teaching, broad-based knowledge and teaching interests, and the ability to integrate that knowledge across the electrical engineering curriculum. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to project-based and hands-on learning and engagement in research collaborations with undergraduates and master’s students. Applications are welcome in all areas of electrical engineering; particular consideration will be given to candidates with professional expertise in the following areas: Board-Level Electronic Systems and Applications; Sensing, Actuation, and Controls, including Robotics; Systems Engineering and Project Management applied to Electronic Products or Large-scale Systems including Power.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
The position is a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty role beginning Fall 2026. The candidate is expected to:
Demonstrate excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills; work effectively with students, staff and faculty; develop an externally funded, applied research program involving undergraduate and graduate students; and collaborate with key stakeholders.
Demonstrate hands-on, student-centered learning and the ability to teach across the electrical engineering curriculum; engage in multidisciplinary collaboration; and participate in service activities at all levels of the University.
Required :
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent; candidates nearing completion (ABD) may be considered but must provide proof of degree before start.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and communication; ability to develop and sustain an externally funded research program involving undergraduates and graduates; commitment to hands-on learning.
Strong written and oral English language proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications :
Professional development and/or industry experience; laboratory-based instruction experience; experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment.
Conditions and Policy The person holding this position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. A background check will be completed after a conditional offer, and may result in offer withdrawal if not satisfactorily completed.
