Summit Club is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent to join the Department Department.

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will play a crucial role in maintaining the pristine conditions of an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse, driving range, and practice area. Working closely with the Director of Agronomy, the ideal candidate will possess the skills and experience necessary to independently manage the day-to-day operations of the golf course maintenance. Responsibilities will include overseeing maintenance tasks, managing a team of grounds crew workers, implementing turf maintenance programs, and ensuring the overall health and appearance of the golf course. The Assistant Superintendent will assist in scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities, monitoring irrigation systems, and performing equipment maintenance. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth, with the potential for advancement into a Superintendent role. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for creating a world-class golfing experience for members and guests.

The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for environmental stewardship. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with the team and engaging with golfers and members. A degree in turfgrass management, horticulture, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant experience in golf course maintenance. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent must be knowledgeable about turfgrass species, irrigation systems, fertilizers, and pest control methods to ensure the course remains in top condition.## Key Responsibilities## * Golf Course Maintenance and Operations

+ Manage all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, fertilization, pest control, and irrigation.

+ Assists with the operation and maintenance of all grounds for the project including landscape, grounds and common areas.

+ Works closely with other departments to ensure consistency within the overall project and development relating to landscape and grounds.

+ Oversees the drainage, irrigation and watering systems.

+ Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive turf management programs to maintain optimal playing conditions year-round.

+ Maintains course in proper playing condition.

+ Supervises in conjunction with department Horticulturist, all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf course.

+ Recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates all personnel assigned to department.

+ Maintains accurate work records for all personnel in the department.

+ Plans professional development and training activities for subordinates.

+ Conduct regular inspections of the course to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans accordingly.

+ Collaborate with golf course management to plan and execute course improvement projects.

+ Keeps accurate schedules and records of all maintenance completed on course.

+ Ensures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

+ Selects and prepares proper fertilizers and nutrients for all flora and fauna.

+ Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices for sustainable golf course management.

+ Prepares and revises grounds manual.## **Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree in turf management, agronomy, horticulture, or a related field (preferred).* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.* Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, irrigation systems, and golf course agronomy practices.* Experience with budget management and resource allocation.* Valid driver's license and pesticide applicator's license (or ability to obtain).* Knowledge of proper use of fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, and soil conditioners.* Understanding and interpreting soil and tissue reports## **Additional Requirements**## * Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.* Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
