Supervisory Responsibilities None
Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Business‑related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with 5‑7 years of experience in Accounting, Finance or Business‑related field
Public accounting firm experience preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or progression toward it preferred
Intermediate Excel skills
Oracle experience a plus
Strong oral and written communication skills
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Month‑end financial close processes, including accretion preparation
Prepare journal entries – recurring and general – for monthly close
Prepare, tie out, and analyze business unit and corporate financial statements
Recognize and research unusual variances or inconsistencies within statements
Build, maintain, and ensure the accuracy of financial reports and process documentation
Maintain amortization schedules and prepare monthly schedules/entries aligned with the close schedule
Maintain well‑documented workpapers and instructions for journal entries and account reconciliations; review balance sheet and income statement reasonableness
Prepare and record year‑end job cost accrual journal entries
Prepare gross margin job schedules with percentage complete calculations and revenue recognition entries
Reconcile employee benefits, receivables, accrued vacation, and holiday accounts
Prepare and review OCIP & CCIP workpapers, monthly reports, and audit schedules
Prepare and review reconciliations for workers’ comp, general liability, and auto insurance & audit schedules
Review & analyze overheads for financial trends
Reconcile balance sheet accounts in a timely manner, resolving items promptly
Prepare monthly and year‑end financial data in accordance with GAAP
Assist in preparing ancillary audit schedules and footnotes
Resolve accounting transaction questions within agreed timelines
Take initiative to discuss assignments, expectations, priorities, and deadlines; seek coaching as needed
Adapt quickly to new work structures, processes, or requirements
Maintain adherence to GAAP, company policies, and industry practices
Other duties may be assigned
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, client contracts, subcontracts, and governmental regulations; ability to write reports and business correspondence; ability to present information effectively and respond to client and manager inquiries.
Mathematical Skills Proficient in the use of standard business financial mathematical functions with the aid of a PC spreadsheet package or calculator.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, and balance; lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required; requires close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT May involve field trips to existing or new plants, exposing the employee to outdoor weather, loud noise, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and airborne particles.
