Remote (candidates based in Virginia preferred; optional on-site availability 1x/month)

Compensation:

$70,000 – $80,000 annual salary

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description We’re seeking aPayroll Accountantto join a collaborative and high-performing payroll team within a stable and growing organization. The ideal candidate is an experienced payroll professional with strong technical skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle, biweekly payroll processing for a large, multi-state employee base.

Maintain compliance with all state and federal tax and labor regulations.

Perform detailed reconciliations and prepare reports for Finance and HR teams.

Research and resolve discrepancies related to employee pay and deductions.

Partner cross-functionally to support audits and ensure data accuracy.

Contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives within the payroll system.

Qualifications

5+ years of full-cycle payroll experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros required).

Proven experience managing payroll for high employee volumes (1,000+ employees).

Experience with Paycom or similar systems (e.g., UKG, Kronos) preferred.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to adapt to manual processes and evolving systems.

Willingness to work extended hours on payroll processing days.
