Corporate Accounting Manager
– Stamford Health, Norwalk, CT
Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Corporate Accounting Manager will oversee and review the daily accounting operations of the team, including preparation and review of general ledger entries, reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with financial accounting policies and procedures. The role will also assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
Major Accountabilities / Critical Responsibilities
Oversee and supervise all corporate accounting duties, including the design of an organizational structure that achieves departmental goals and objectives.
Ensure accounting team meets all financial reporting deadlines.
Monitor all processes within the department and provide oversight to streamline and improve the monthly financial close process.
Supervise depreciation analysis and the monthly fixed asset and depreciation expense reconciliation for the Oracle general ledger system.
Perform and/or supervise bank and balance sheet accounts reconciliations on a monthly basis.
Execute fiscal year‑end close activities and assist external auditors.
Respond to inquiries and perform special project requests for the Corporate Controller and other senior managers.
Assist in preparing and developing the annual 990 tax return information.
Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Payroll, FP&A and Reimbursement departments to support overall department goals.
Facilitate banking specific efforts related to Positive Pay and other banking exceptions.
Assist with the monthly closing of the Accounts Payable module.
Supervise and review the monthly intercompany reconciliation.
Train accountants in Oracle and other accounting related software.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting – CPA license (or in process) required.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience; 2+ years of management experience preferred.
Strong understanding of US GAAP and related accounting concepts, procedures, and regulations.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and ERP accounting software (Oracle preferred).
Strong understanding of accounting and budgeting.
Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Accuracy, precision, and ability to evaluate large volumes of financial data.
Ability to work under tight timeframes for monthly financial closings.
Knowledge of the healthcare industry is an asset.
