The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient use of manufacturing resources, timely order fulfillment, and alignment with customer demand. This role serves as the key link between Sales, Operations, and Procurement to balance capacity, materials, and labor planning. The position drives the execution of the production plan, monitors performance, and proactively resolves scheduling conflicts to maintain service levels and production efficiency.

This role will actively support company goals by improving scheduling accuracy, optimizing lead times, and enhancing communication across departments to achieve operational excellence.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and maintains the master production schedule, aligning daily and weekly production plans with sales orders, forecast, and inventory targets.
  • Coordinates with Operations, Procurement, and Sales to ensure production priorities reflect capacity, material availability, and customer needs.
  • Reviews capacity constraints and proactively recommends adjustments to meet delivery and efficiency goals.
  • Monitors production progress daily, identifies bottlenecks, and adjusts schedules as needed to maintain on-time performance.
  • Analyzes production data and reports key performance indicators (KPIs) related to schedule adherence, changeovers, and utilization.
  • Communicates scheduling updates and changes to plant management, warehouse, and supply chain teams.
  • Supports the operations team in planning and sequencing production runs to minimize downtime and improve throughput.
  • Collaborates with Procurement and Warehouse teams to ensure raw material availability aligns with scheduled production.
  • Coordinates with Customer Service and Sales to confirm lead times and manage expectations for order fulfillment.
  • Leads weekly production planning meetings to align plant scheduling priorities with overall business objectives.
  • Assists in maintaining system data accuracy related to bills of materials, routings, and production orders.
  • Participates in continuous improvement projects related to scheduling processes, systems, and data integrity.
  • Provides analytical and reporting support to measure scheduling effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in production scheduling, planning, or related supply chain function.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional communication between Production, Sales, and Procurement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with master production scheduling (MPS) or advanced planning systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process flow, capacity planning, and material requirements planning (MRP).
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning systems and production reporting tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.


The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually.
