EnerMech Payroll Specialist
EnerMech is seeking an experienced HR / Payroll Professional to oversee and manage full‑cycle payroll operations across our organization. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance with union and labor regulations, and the integrity of employee data across multiple systems. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong analytical skills, deep payroll expertise, and the ability to partner effectively with HR, Finance, and Operations to drive process improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of payroll processing, including wage calculation, deductions, bonuses, and benefit allocations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
Ensure compliance with union contracts, including tracking benefits, deductions, and contributions specific to union membership.
Maintain accurate employee records in the HR system & payroll system, including hours worked, leave taken and any changes in employment status.
Ensure timely compliance with timesheet submissions and tracking.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, staying updated on relevant legislation and applying changes to company payroll policies.
Oversee payroll system functionality, troubleshoot issues, and implement system updates as necessary, working closely with HR and IT departments to optimize system performance.
Generate detailed payroll reports and metrics, analyzing trends and discrepancies to provide actionable insights to senior management.
Performance evaluations to support professional growth.
Continuously assess payroll processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Address and resolve complex payroll inquiries and issues, acting as the primary point of contact for employee payroll concerns.
Conduct regular internal payroll audits and work with external auditors during audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of payroll experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
Proficiency in payroll software, with experience in SAP Concur, ADP, and Navision as a plus. Strong knowledge of payroll processing, accounting principles, and tax regulations.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience in payroll reporting and data analysis.
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead a team and communicate with employees and management.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
