POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, seeks a mid-level Site Civil Engineer to join our team supporting the electrical utility service areas. Our department specializes in high‑performing projects with a focus on the future. Our goal is to deliver excellent projects and a positive experience for our clients and communities.
This position will report to the Rocky Mount, Virginia location with the ability to work remotely. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.
Job Summary Of Roles And Responsibilities
Support the design and implementation of grading and drainage systems, including stormwater management, for both new and existing linear electrical utility sites.
Design access roads and structure pads, and involve in permitting processes and construction support activities.
Prepare and review engineering deliverables in support of civil/site engineering projects using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater management, floodplain modeling, site layout, grading, drainage designs and drawings.
Provide bill of materials, construction specifications, and perform detailed engineering reviews of work submitted by others.
Provide mentorship and guidance to others and coordinate regularly with the Project Engineer/Manager to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met.
Required Education/Experience
BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an accredited university.
Engineer‑In‑Training Certification.
Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, storm drainage and stormwater management design, site grading, roadway, and utility design, sanitary sewer design and analysis, construction specification development, and development of construction bid packages.
Three (3) + years of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience.
Three (3) to ten (10) + years’ experience in civil site/design as outlined above.
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
Experience using Microsoft Office software suite.
Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience
Professional Engineering License, with NCEES Record and state reciprocity.
Experience with Stormwater management and hydraulic modeling software (Autodesk SSA, SWMM, HEC‑RAS, etc.) in drainage, detention, and stormwater conveyance.
Electric utility substation design experience.
Managerial and leadership skills.
