Mid-Level Site Civil Engineer
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, seeks a mid-level Site Civil Engineer to join our team supporting the electrical utility service areas. The department specializes in high‑performing projects focused on future‑oriented design. This position will report to the Rocky Mount, Virginia location, with remote work flexibility and occasional travel to a POWER office.
Job Summary Support the design and implementation of grading and drainage systems, including stormwater management, for new and existing linear electrical utility sites. Design access roads, structure pads, and participate in permitting processes and construction support activities.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review engineering deliverables in support of civil/site engineering projects
AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
Stormwater management calculations, design, and modeling
Floodplain modeling and analysis
Site layout, grading, drainage designs and drawings
Bill of materials
Construction specifications
Perform detailed engineering reviews of others’ work
Provide mentorship and guidance
Coordinate with Project Engineer/Manager to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met
Required Education & Experience
BSCE degree from an accredited university
Engineer‑In‑Training certification
Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, storm drainage, stormwater management, site grading, roadway, utility design, sanitary sewer design and analysis, construction specifications, and bid package development
3+ years of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience
3 to 10+ years’ experience in civil site/design as outlined above
Strong command of English with good written and oral communication skills
Experience using Microsoft Office suite
Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship
Desired Education & Experience
Professional Engineering License with NCEES Record and state reciprocity
Experience with stormwater management and hydraulic modeling software (Autodesk SSA, SWMM, HEC‑RAS, etc.)
Electric utility substation design experience
Managerial and leadership skills

Compensation Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $120,000 per year. The range is provided in compliance with all state and local regulations.
