Job Summary The UC Davis Health School of Medicine is seeking a dedicated and innovative Generalist Associate Physician to join the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the division of University Women’s Health (UWH). UC Davis delivers approximately two thousand babies a year, has a level III NICU, and serves a high-risk obstetric population.
Location Sacramento, CA
Schedule The division of UWH offers full‑time and part‑time Generalist Associate Physician opportunities, and offers various shift options including seven (24‑hour shifts), fourteen (12‑hour shifts) per month, or a combination of 24‑hour and 12‑hour shifts.
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in general obstetrics and gynecology.
Be responsible for clinical duties that include occasional outpatient care; daytime laborist on labor and delivery; obstetric day call; obstetrical night call in‑house; at home gynecology call in rotation; and inpatient nighttime hospitalist duties on labor and delivery, including urgent and emergent gynecologic surgery.
Additional hospitalist responsibilities include OB triage, labor management, postpartum care, initial evaluation and admission of antepartum patients, ER coverage, emergency surgeries and inpatient consults.
Provide teaching and supervision of residents and medical students in labor and delivery, the operating room and the inpatient wards for any admitted patients as the attending physician.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to enhance patient outcomes and ensure the highest standards of care.
Participate in administrative meetings held to support departmental initiatives and operations while adhering to all relevant department and clinic policies.
This position is primarily based at a UC Davis Health School of Medicine (UCDH) clinic; applicants must have the flexibility to provide coverage at other affiliated clinics as needed. Minimum Qualifications
Ability to obtain a federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license without restriction within 3 months of hire.
Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Ability to obtain, and maintain, a Medical License in the State of California by the time of hire.
Successful completion of an approved Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency training program by the time of hire.
M.D. or D.O. degree.
One year or greater recent clinical experience in general OB/GYN.
Collaborate effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, including management, staff, physician colleagues, residents and medical students; ability to triage urgent patient needs, adhere to UC and UCDH Policies and Procedures, practice state‑of‑the‑art quality medicine that prioritizes the patient experience; appropriately manage economic resources; demonstrate strong written, oral, and verbal communication.
Prioritize quality of care and the patient experience; timely completion of paperwork involving patient care and billing, ensuring compliance with billing policies; demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct; provide and accept feedback; implement UCDH accepted clinical standards of care, “Code of conduct”; obtain and maintain good standing and active medical staff privileges with UCDH; embrace change, take part in innovation and continuous quality improvement, including supporting organizational changes.
