Internship Opportunity at Alaska Airlines
Alaska Airlines interns join teams throughout different departments and work on visible projects that impact our guests and business. Interns get the opportunity to network with fellow employees and company leaders through various intern events and programming. Interns also receive unlimited standby travel benefits during their internship, which means that many weekends are filled with jet setting across our growing network. This internship is for summer 2026. Our internships are full-time for 12 weeks, and we offer two program timelines to align with different academic calendars. This internship will be located in SeaTac, WA. If not already in the internship city, candidates will be required to relocate for the duration of the internship. Role Summary

The internship is designed to offer exposure to a broad range of IT GRC programs and practices through active participation and applied learning. It provides hands-on experience across key cybersecurity domains, including cloud governance, vulnerability management, third-party risk, and security awareness, with a primary emphasis on IT Risk Management. IT Risk Management: Learn about emerging IT risks, assist with populating risk registers, participate in risk assessments, and gain exposure to risk frameworks. Cloud Governance: Work with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to understand cloud access controls and automation practices. Vulnerability Management: Support vulnerability scanning, remediation tracking, and dashboard reporting. Third-Party Risk: Conduct third-party risk assessments and produce summary reports. Security Awareness: Assist in designing training curriculum and tracking user completion and engagement. Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required : Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship. Working toward a Bachelor's degree with a focus in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Must have achieved a junior or higher academic standing at the time of application. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum age of 18. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred : Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, IT risk management, and cloud computing concepts. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure). Understanding of IT risk frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001). Prior involvement in the cybersecurity community (e.g., volunteering, conferences, student clubs). Job-Specific Leadership Expectations
