Assistant Professor of Wildlife Biology
at Tennessee Tech University - College of Business. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track appointment to begin August 2026 in the Department of Biology. The department invites applications from wildlife biologists who will teach traditional wildlife science courses, including upper-division courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. The position includes developing and sustaining an active externally funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students, directing graduate student research, advising students, and fulfilling service responsibilities, including serving as advisor to the student chapter of The Wildlife Society. Essential Functions
Teach traditional courses in wildlife science and upper-division courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.
Develop and sustain an active externally funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students.
Direct graduate student research at the M.S. and/or Ph.D. levels.
Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
Fulfill service requirements, including advising the student chapter of The Wildlife Society.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in wildlife biology or a closely related field by the employment start date.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior university-level teaching experience.
Ability to teach courses such as wildlife principles, wildlife policy, wildlife techniques, or other upper-division wildlife courses.
A record of research publications commensurate with experience.
Evidence of or potential for externally funded research.
Ability to develop a research program that complements existing strengths within the Department of Biology.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships and a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Compensation And Benefits Salary commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2026.
Benefits include the accumulation of one (1) sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and education benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
