$38.15 - $49.60 / hour Summary The ECMO Coordinator acts as the lead ECMO Specialist (ES). They ensure ECMO practices are concurrent with ELSO guidelines and organization, operational, and strategic goals, policies, and guidelines. Work in close collaboration with Cardiac Surgery, Intensivist and Perfusionist regarding initiation, management, and removal of ECMO. The technical complexity of this position requires the ECMO Coordinator to have a thorough understanding of cardiac, congenital pediatrics, pulmonary, vascular, and orthotopic transplantation procedures. ECMO support must be administered to a varied patient population safely and efficiently. They will provide direct clinical coverage and participate in clinical rounds. In collaboration with leadership, the ECMO Coordinator is responsible for training, orienting, and developing competencies associated with ECMO. Will serve as a mentor for ECMO Specialists (ES) by performing ECMO at the bedside, modeling appropriate behavior and decision making, and leading by example. Provide feedback to leaders on ES performance as deemed necessary. They will assist with the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines as well as the delegation and implementation of protocols. Provide recommendations related to order set development and the electronic medical record including documentation. Responsible for data collection and data entry in the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) registry in collaboration with the Clinical Analyst. Demonstrate a commitment to quality and excellence, promoting Lee Health as an ECMO Center of Excellence. Along with ECMO leadership, the ECMO Coordinator ensures the ECMO program is compliant with ELSO guidelines and recommendations. Looks for opportunities to present at medical meetings, network with other ECMO centers, and attend ECMO meetings to keep apprised on ECMO management and new technology. Is involved in product evaluation and assessment and will assist with program development and implementation of new technology. Requirements Education:

Degree in Nursing OR graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited School for Respiratory Care OR graduate of Perfusion Program required. Request is for Critical Care RN only. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an ECMO Specialist. Five (5) years of experience preferred. Certification:

American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required. ACLS required within six (6) months of hire. Certified ECMO Specialist - Adult (CES-A) within 24 months of hire. Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS) certification preferred. License:

Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida OR Licensed as Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in Florida OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialed by NBRC required. Request for Critical Care RN only. Other:

Ability to perform advanced ECMO procedures independently, work within the ECMO Specialist rotation, and demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, organization, customer service, and leadership. Knowledge of ECMO equipment, guidelines, order sets, and current disease management guidelines. Proficiency with data entry and Microsoft Excel/Word. Ability to meet timelines and collaborate with healthcare teams and external customers.
