Overview

Our client, a large entertainment studio in LA, is seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant to provide leadership and oversight of accounting processes during a key transition period in the home entertainment group. This role supports the finance organization in ensuring timely close processes, revenue recognition accuracy, contract review, and compliance with corporate reporting standards. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within a studio or content distribution environment, with particular familiarity around film, television, or home entertainment.

ACCOUNTING CONSULTANT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Review and interpret complex sales and distribution agreements, ensuring financial reporting accurately reflects contractual deal terms.
  • Manage the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring consistency with internal control frameworks.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives related to process improvement, automation, and system optimization.
  • Utilize SAP for core accounting operations and other reconciliation tools to ensure accurate and timely account reconciliation and certification.
  • Collaborate with FP&A and Sales Operations to reconcile reported sales with external partner statements and identify variances or discrepancies.
  • Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules, responding to requests, and ensuring compliance with audit standards.
  • Mentor and support accounting staff during the transition period, fostering best practices and maintaining continuity of operations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Director, Controller, or leadership position.
  • Prior experience within an entertainment studio is required. Home entertainment experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to interpret and operationalize sales or licensing agreements into accurate financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with SAP ERP systems required; experience with Trintech or comparable reconciliation tools is a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, revenue recognition, and intercompany accounting.
  • Available to work on-site several days per week as needed for coordination with finance and operational teams.
