Associate Director of Alumni Volunteer Engagement Position Title:

Associate Director of Alumni Volunteer Engagement - 1/2 Campaign.

Department:

Alumni and Parent Relations.

Classification:

Exempt.

FTE:

1.0

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with some evening and weekend hours. Work arrangement subject to approval.

Travel:

Up to 15% including local and national travel.

Work Location:

Hybrid: On Campus Tuesday‑Thursday; Remote Monday and Friday.

Salary Range:

$56,000 – $63,000.

Essential Job Duties

Lead St. Olaf's Alumni Volunteer Engagement Program

Manage the alumni volunteer pipeline for St. Olaf College. Develop and execute strategies for engaging alumni as volunteers, ensuring a mutual benefit for alumni and the college, and implement best practices for volunteer management across the college.

Collaborate with campus partners and program managers to understand available volunteer opportunities, inventory all volunteer roles, and ensure a diverse range from micro-volunteer to multi‑year board and council positions.

Support campus partners and program managers in recruiting alumni volunteers; oversee onboarding and off‑boarding to provide a consistent volunteer experience.

Provide ongoing support and oversight to faculty and staff who offer volunteer opportunities for alumni.

Develop and maintain volunteer resources, including job descriptions, training materials, and confidentiality agreements.

Establish a comprehensive volunteer recognition program to celebrate alumni contributions.

Develop and implement a risk‑management plan for all alumni volunteer activities to ensure volunteer safety and college protection.

Partner with Advancement Operations and Strategies to track and report alumni volunteer engagement in compliance with CASE guidelines and set annual volunteer goals.

Lead St. Olaf's Reunion Alumni Volunteer Program

Create and execute strategy and processes to engage alumni volunteers in reunion planning.

Support Advancement staff on class committees.

Collaborate closely with the Annual Giving program (St. Olaf Fund) to integrate reunion planning with fundraising objectives and coordinate class committees to secure attendance and giving.

Act as the Program Staff Lead for St. Olaf's Milestone 50th Reunion

Support the Senior Development Officer in executing 50th reunion strategy to achieve engagement and fundraising objectives.

Guide a sub‑committee of 10–15 volunteers responsible for planning reunion weekend programming for their classmates.

Collaborate with a multi‑person team to plan and execute 50th reunion events, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and logistical parameters for reunion weekend.

Support APR's Signature Events, Including Reunion and Homecoming

Assist in planning reunion, homecoming, and other signature events.

Provide on‑site support during event weekends.

Other Duties

Support the Director in managing and coordinating the Alumni and Family Board (AFB); liaise with AFB committees as assigned.

Commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build an inclusive community.

Complete required training and performance management cycle deadlines.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received and Exercised Reports to the Director of Engagement, Alumni and Parent Relations. This position does not supervise staff or students.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree; valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.

Experience:

3+ years in volunteer management, project management, nonprofit management, higher education administration, or fundraising.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong relationship‑building with diverse constituents.

Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication, including public speaking and presentation skills.

Proven organizational and project management abilities, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

5+ years in the relevant fields.

Skills and Competencies:

Experience using a CRM or database (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) to track constituent data and engagement metrics.

Experience with CASE guidelines and metrics for alumni engagement.

Prerequisites Successful completion of a background check, including criminal, reference, work history, academic credentials, motor vehicle, DOT certification, credit check, and employment eligibility verification.
