Job Description Amberleaf Home is seeking a highly skilled Engineer with deep expertise in Microvellum, AutoCAD, and CNC programming to join our team. This is a hands‑on technical role focused on precision drafting, value engineering, and production‑ready documentation for our architectural millwork and residential casework (cabinet) projects.
You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, production staff, and installers to translate design intent into accurate, buildable solutions that meet our quality and performance standards. The ideal candidate brings extensive cabinetry and millwork experience, excellent problem‑solving ability, and a passion for improving engineering workflows and standards.

Beyond drawing, you’ll help shape how Amberleaf engineers, documents, and builds our products. Your expertise will strengthen our standards, mentor developing drafters, and bridge design with production to drive smarter, more consistent execution.
Responsibilities
Demonstrated capability to lead and oversee drafting operations, ensuring compliance with architectural specifications, company standards, and project objectives through effective collaboration with both internal staff and external partners
Draft detailed
cabinet and millwork drawings
using Microvellum and AutoCAD
Translate architectural and design documents into accurate, buildable shop drawings
Generate
CNC and saw programs
and construction documentation for production
Perform
value engineering
to identify cost‑saving opportunities in design and materials
Develop and maintain
as‑built drawings
and ensure field accuracy
Prepare
material take‑offs
and cut lists for procurement and fabrication
Collaborate with project managers to confirm scope, design intent, and constructability
Communicate with the manufacturing team to clarify production requirements and resolve conflicts
Maintain precision and attention to detail in all design and engineering outputs
Contribute to the development of
standardized engineering and drafting practices
Stay current on new materials, hardware, and manufacturing technologies relevant to millwork

5+ years of experience
in millwork or cabinetry engineering (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
Deep understanding of
architectural woodwork, casework, and AWI standards
Proficiency in Microvellum and AutoCAD
(required)
Experience with
CNC machinery and programming
Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints and fabrication drawings
Excellent problem‑solving ability and technical judgment
Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, project management, and production teams
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast‑paced environment
Bonus Points For:
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or process optimization
Knowledge of emerging materials, hardware, or finishes used in high‑end millwork
Prior experience mentoring or supporting junior drafters
