Senior Payroll Operations Manager, Shared Services
Location: Atlanta, GA
We’re looking for a payroll professional with around
three years of experience
handling
multi-state payroll for approximately 200 employees —someone confident, accurate, and ready to take ownership of the payroll process.

Role Overview
You’ll be joining a small but high‑impact finance team during a period of transformation—where your insights, models, and ways of working will shape how we plan, analyse, and deliver value to clients and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee full‑cycle payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal/state/local laws and regulations
Audit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year‑end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)
Handle journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger support
Assist with benefit reporting, including 401(k), HSA, health & wellness plan reporting, etc.
Maintain compliance with payroll systems, wage/tax laws, and coordinate with tax agencies
Conduct new payroll orientations and ongoing employee education
Review contracts for compensation accuracy and deadlines
Support benefit audits, claims analysis, and cost control initiatives
Oversee payroll tax filings, W2 processing, and other year‑end reporting requirements
Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries promptly in a service‑oriented manner
Verify incoming payroll data (salary adjustments, special payments, tax allocations, employee deductions) to set schedules
Collaborate with People and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee data and accounting
Lead payroll audits and respond to external auditors’ inquiries
Manage relationship with HRIS & payroll service provider (Rippling)
Monitor legislative changes affecting payroll and implement necessary updates
Maintain and update payroll policies and procedures
Support system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements
Maintain full balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis for the group’s US corporate entity and assist with other regional entity reconciliations as required by Group Management Accountant
Assist with preparation of schedules required for auditors and prepare month‑end journal schedules with supporting documentation
Review and sign‑off on monthly bank reconciliations, and manage the expense reporting and approval processes
Assist with accuracy of cash flow forecasting, inter‑company postings, and credit card accruals
Prepare financials required for any statutory bodies, federal, state, UK Office for National Statistics, ESG & other reporting as required
Other ad‑hoc support as may be required
Candidate Profile
Must‑Haves
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
2‑3 years of experience overseeing and processing full‑cycle payroll processes, preferably in a multi‑state environment
Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
Experience with payroll systems, preferably Rippling
Financial management, auditing, and reporting experience
Experience in producing and maintaining accurate reconciliations
Experience in multi‑entity, multi‑currency environments
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Must be capable of conveying financial information to diverse audiences
Nice‑to‑Haves
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification preferred
Experience with Sage Intacct, Rippling, Power BI, or other similar systems
Background in Consulting, Services, Creative, or related sectors
Exposure to process automation or finance transformation initiatives
