Network Provisioning Specialist (T3)

Position Summary The Network Provisioning Specialist – Activation and Maintenance is responsible for customer support of newly installed circuits, hardware configuration updates, manages services support and changes, etc. as needed. Responsibilities will include assisting our customers with the turn‑up of their services as well as record keeping and provisioning changes on various Layer 1, 2 & 3 network devices, managed services updates/changes, BGP configurations, and DNS changes. Circuits are designed and configured within the various switched and routed data and optical wave networks (including—but not limited to—Juniper and Cisco routers, MRV/Adva, Ciena, and Cisco switches, Ciena and Cisco optical transport platforms, and Versa SD‑WAN enable devices) using company‑defined configurations and standards.
Essential Job Functions
Provide comprehensive technical support to customers during the turn up of new services via phone and email.
Support new turn-up on the Data Network (IP, Switched Ethernet).
Support new turn-up on the Optical Transport Network (SONET, DWDM).
Ethernet and IP circuit design and documentation using NetCracker and Visio.
Manual provisioning and troubleshooting of live production switches and routers—experience with Juniper, MRV/Adva, Ciena, Cisco and Ciena 6500 preferred.
Internet Route Registry updates.
DNS configuration and support.
BGP configuration and support.
Update job assignments in appropriate system(s).
Support Field Operations, NOC, ONS and Engineering as required.
Flag capacity constraints to Supervisor/Manager as necessary.
Troubleshoot existing customer services and reconfigure as required.
Work directly with and communicate effectively to CCF customers.
Education / Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
CCNA and/or JNCIA certification is a plus.
Managed Services/SD‑WAN certifications are a plus.
Netcracker Circuit Inventory Management experience is a plus.
Experience / Minimum Requirements
2+ years of Ethernet, and/or DWDM circuit design, provisioning or equivalent engineering experience.
2+ years in a carrier or ISP environment.
Knowledge and experience in wide area networking solutions that utilize at least three of the following: dark fiber, SONET, DWDM, IP, switched Ethernet and managed services.
Understanding of and demonstrated experience in provisioning and troubleshooting protocols such as QinQ, MPLS, VPLS, tag swapping and stacking, IP routing including BGP.
Understanding of ServiceNow workflows.
Other Skills / Abilities
Ethernet troubleshooting skills.
SONET/DWDM troubleshooting skills.
Experience working with and provisioning to third‑party carriers.
Ability to work effectively independently and in a group; provide help and support to other divisions of the company.
Excellent customer communications skills – ability to work collaboratively and professionally with end‑user customers as required.
Comfortable in a fast‑paced office environment and able to meet multiple assignment deadlines.
Proven fault identification and analysis skills, critical thinking, proven ability to separate and troubleshoot layer 2 and layer 3 technologies and connectivity.
Experience documenting network facilities and circuits.
Understanding of collocation and carrier hotel “Meet‑Me Rooms” (MMR), cross‑connect and demarcation standards and procedures.
Understanding of customer (or carrier) facility assignments (CFA).
Personal commitment to network safety and security, including safeguards to sensitive or confidential customer and company information.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational/administrative skills.
A positive attitude and desire to deliver exceptional results for our customers.
Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint) skills.
Working Conditions This role falls into our hybrid work model: office or data center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; Monday and Friday, teammates have the option to work from the office, home or a data center. There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates, vendor meetings, site walks, site remediation, stakeholders, and for emergency matters that could require travel.
Compensation The hourly pay range is $31.46 – $42.57 per hour. Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives. Employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance; 401(k) plan; a minimum of 18 days of paid time off per year and 12 paid holidays.
