VCU Health The position consists of scheduling, consenting, educating, and assessing patients for image guided procedures with or without procedural sedation. The APPs do not perform any procedures. Overview

The Advanced Practice Provider provides high-quality medical and/or surgical patient care. This position provides care to patients with acute and chronic complaints in collaboration with the Attending Physician. The Advanced Practice Provider provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or preventive healthcare service on a Collaborative APP/Physician team. The Advanced Practice Provider may perform any or all of the following: histories and physicals; order and interpret tests; make diagnosis; treat injuries/illness; assist with surgical procedures; counsel patient and/or prescribe medication and those invasive procedures defined by the Virginia Board of Medicine. The Advanced Practice Provider works collaboratively with the medical team to deliver organized, timely, cost effective and quality patient care. The Advanced Practice Provider will provide patient care under a defined departmental and state-approved scope of practice with the collaboration of an Attending Physician(s). Responsibilities

Clinical & Patient Care: Demonstrates mastery of treatment and patient care of specialty population served; coordinates patient care across the continuum; conducts health histories and physical examinations; initiates screening; orders or performs diagnostic tests; provides direct patient care; assists with surgical procedures; prescribes medications and counsels patients; initiates emergency procedures as needed; maintains safety, infection control, and documentation in the patient record; communicates effectively with the health care team; coordinates care between primary and specialty services when needed. Consultation: Serves as a consultant to other health care professionals; acts as liaison, translator, and negotiator for staff, patients, and families; participates in the multidisciplinary care plan. Research: Utilizes current research to develop and evaluate standards of care; participates in research, publications, consultation and/or educational activities; supports clinical trials within the specialty area. Ethical Decision Making: Applies clinical judgment and ethics in decision making; promotes interdisciplinary processes to resolve ethical dilemmas; supports patient rights and values in decision making. Professional Development: Pursues opportunities for growth; collaborates with physicians and allied health professionals; assesses own learning needs and develops a plan for growth; participates in continuing education and maintains competencies and certifications as required. Miscellaneous Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned; supports the mission of VCU Health; accepts alternate assignments as needed. Qualifications

Education : Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife or Physician Assistant Program; service-specific education preferred. Licensure/Certification Required : Current Virginia licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant; current national certification as appropriate for the role; credentialing per medical staff by-laws; current CPR and BLS; ACLS and PALS may be required at the department level. Licensure/Certification Preferred : Service-specific certification. Minimum Qualifications : Previous clinical experience with the population served. Other Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required : Cultural responsiveness. Other Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred : Three (3) years of previous clinical experience with the population served; experience in an academic healthcare system.
