Position Overview

It’s the Ingalls Pipefitter that supplies the life blood of our nation's military vessels. The volatile environment onboard involves fuel, steam, ventilation, hydraulic, chemical, heating and cooling systems. Ingalls Pipefitters are among the best in the world.

Job Description

An Ingalls Pipefitter, also referred to as a Journeyman Pipefitter, is responsible for fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanised, copper, copper‑nickel, and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fittings, using various tools and equipment in accordance with drawings, arrangements and blueprints. Shipyard production areas may involve working at different heights, confined spaces, weather conditions, and multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most positions in the yard, a Pipefitter may be required to work day or night depending on ship construction needs. Ingalls stresses safe work practices with safety procedures meeting and often exceeding industry standards.

Must Have

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have completed a craft skills training program or previous experience
• Must be willing to work any shift

Nice to Have

High school graduate or equivalent, Tech Master Certification
