Overview

A Client maintenance technician performs mechanical, electrical, and general repairs on bakery production equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime and ensure safety. Key duties include troubleshooting and repairing machinery, performing preventative maintenance, maintaining accurate maintenance records, and assisting with general building maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment maintenance: Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, and motors.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Mechanical repairs: Install, repair, and maintain mechanical components such as bearings, belts, and shafts.
  • Electrical and controls work: Work with power transmissions, variable speed drives, and basic control systems.
  • Building maintenance: Handle general tasks like plumbing, lighting, and HVAC repairs.
  • Record-keeping: Maintain accurate work orders, logs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Inventory and ordering: Manage spare parts inventory and assist in ordering new parts.
  • Safety and compliance: Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and food production standards.
  • Root cause analysis: Assist in identifying the root causes of breakdowns and proposing improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Shift information: 1st Shift 6:30pm - 4:30am; 2nd Shift 4:00pm - 1:30am; 3rd Shift 10:00pm - 7:30am.
  • Scheduling: Weekend, overtime, and holiday availability required.

Summary / Purpose

As a Maintenance Mechanic at Client, you will perform mechanical, electrical, and general maintenance duties to support smooth, continuous bakery production. You’ll troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain production equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime and maintain plant safety and efficiency.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training / vocational certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably food / bakery).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with power transmissions, variable speed drives, servos, basic I/O, machine control; some PLC exposure is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to reliably troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Good computer skills for maintenance recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; good communication skills.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Physical ability to lift, climb, bend, crouch, work in a factory environment.
  • Commitment to safety, sanitation, and quality standards.

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Experience in bakery or food-processing environment.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Experience in continuous process manufacturing.
  • Lean / TPM / reliability improvement exposure.
  • Welding, fabrication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Plant / production floor environment (dust, heat, noise).
  • 24/7 production environment; shifts rotate or cover outages.
  • Overtime and weekend work as required.
  • May require frequent walking, standing, lifting up to 50 lb.

Credentials

  • 2–5 years industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing environment, preferably food production).
  • Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge – troubleshooting motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and safety training (may be provided onsite, but prior knowledge preferred).
