Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $210,000 – $409,700. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Davis is seeking a dynamic faculty member to serve as a Molecular Pathologist at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, in the Clinical (X) or Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) series. Formal director-level leadership opportunities may be available for well-qualified candidates in this area. UC Davis Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, led by Chair Dr. Florette Kimberly Hazard, is an innovative and growing department.

Overview This position reports to the Director of Clinical Pathology and will be an operational leader, providing strategic vision and collaborative implementation to enhance the department's Molecular Pathology Division and laboratory testing.

Responsibilities

Medical, technical, and scientific directorship of division staff and laboratory personnel in collaboration with the department Chair and other department section leaders.

Supervising molecular laboratory operations, participating in test reporting and new test development.

Contributing to quality assurance and accreditation activities.

Participating in the institution's research/scholarly mission as a collaborator or as an intellectual leader of clinically oriented research projects, depending on the academic series chosen for appointment.

Teaching housestaff and medical students, with participation in interdisciplinary conferences and curriculum development in subspecialty areas.

Engagement in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative activities, and University/public service according to the academic series (Clinical X or HSCP).

Qualifications

California professional license or eligibility for licensure in California.

MD, DO, PhD, or combined MD/PhD or DO/PhD.

For MD or DO degrees: board-eligible or board-certified in Clinical Pathology and Molecular Pathology (or comparable board).

US citizenship, permanent resident status, or employment visa eligibility.

Experience in clinical or academic settings including clinical care, teaching, and research suitable for appointment at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Clinical (X) or HSCP series.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a diverse environment.
