CCF Training Specialist
in
San Jose, CA
to join our team. The Control Center/ Operations Training Specialist is responsible for improving the skill level, quality, and productivity of TASI Central Control Facility (CCF) employees who support train and system operations. This includes Train Dispatchers, Manager of Train Operations (MTO), System Support Specialists, PIDS Clerks, and other staff within CCF. The pay range for this position is $115,000 - $135,000 annually. Duties and Responsibilities
This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Develop, schedule, and present all training and development programs for CCF and Operations employees, including but not limited to new hire training, annual rules training, refresher training, and training on relevant regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain and update training rosters, track annual training progress, and collaborate with department DGMs to develop quarterly training plans that minimize impact on service. Continuously update training materials to address recent incidents and trending operational test failures. Maintain accurate and compliant records of all employee training in accordance with regulatory and company requirements. Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results; modify programs as needed; develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media. Work closely with subject matter experts to evaluate and revise training tools and methods. Develop trainer development programs and coach others involved in training efforts, providing effective growth and development opportunities. Ensure compliance with safety and training during the implementation of electrification. Represent the safety department in all interactions with other departments and maintain consistent safety messaging with those departments. Assist in internal accident/incident investigations, identify root cause, and follow up with corrective actions, preventative measures and enhanced training. Participate in efficiency testing, including but not limited to joint testing and testing with FRA/CPUC/regulatory agencies. Implement TASI standards, rules, and processes in response to regulatory requirements (e.g., FRA Safety Advisories) and in response to corrective actions from internal investigations. Assure quality of service through audits. Maintain strong relationships with all department managers to understand training needs, develop course materials, and receive feedback. Document and report all training and audit results in a timely manner. Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment. Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization. Work effectively as a team member with other members of the management team. Work hands-on with employees demonstrating proper application and techniques in performing required tasks. Complete Dispatcher requirements to support train operations during unforeseen staffing shortages. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Qualified Train Dispatcher or licensed Locomotive Engineer/Conductor. Experience in education, training, and/or mentoring peers, preferably in a commuter rail environment. Working knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), California Occupational Health and Safety Administration (Cal/OSHA) rules and regulations. Working knowledge of standard railroad rules and operating practices. Knowledge of General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR) is preferred. Knowledge of continuous improvement policies and procedures. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Computer proficiency, including by not limited to Microsoft Office and web-based applications. Ability to develop and lead training materials and speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of people. Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce and at all organizational levels. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and harsh environments. Ability to be on call in the evenings and on weekends on a rotating basis. Pre-Employment Requirements
