Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Blue Origin. This role sits within Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE) and the GenESIS team, focused on embedded platform software powering Blue Origin's space vehicles and Generative AI technology. Responsibilities
Develop essential platform software for embedded avionics systems, including device drivers, middleware, and applications that power next-generation aerospace technology. Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to shape software requirements and enable seamless integration across multiple hardware platforms. Contribute to architecture and design discussions for embedded systems and drive innovation through performance optimization and scalable, portable software solutions. Ensure high quality through comprehensive testing, debugging, and performance analysis across varied hardware environments. Create clear, comprehensive documentation (requirements, design specifications, API references) that benefits the whole team. Mentor teammates through code reviews and constructive feedback. Assist in integrating avionics platform software into a varied portfolio of groundbreaking products. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field 10+ years of experience in embedded software development Proficiency in C/C++ programming Deep understanding of real-time systems, multitasking, and synchronization in embedded environments Experience with software loaders, device drivers, middleware (I/O, BIT), hardware abstraction, and low-level interfaces Knowledge of multiple hardware architectures (ARM, x86) and RTOS/Linux embedded environments Experience with CI/CD environments and tools such as Gitlab, Jira, Confluence Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative teamwork experience Excellent communication skills and commitment to collaborative team culture Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with NASA Core Flight Software (CFE) Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT) Experience in safety-critical software development within aerospace, automotive, or similar industries Compensation
CA applicants is $177,567.00-$248,593.80; CO applicants is $163,272.00-$228,579.75; WA applicants is $177,567.00-$248,593.80 Benefits & Culture
