Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Construction Accounting Manager for a full‑time, hybrid role located in Queens, NY. The role supports project financials, compliance, and reporting across active NYC construction projects within Accounting & Finance, partnering closely with Project Management, Compliance, Procurement, and Executive Finance.
Base pay range $120,000.00/yr – $150,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Own project‑level job cost tracking and budget monitoring for active construction projects.
Maintain accurate job cost records and support monthly Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) schedules.
Review subcontractor invoices and verify required compliance documentation (union, MWBE, SDVOB).
Partner with Project Managers to reconcile cost variances and support budget forecasting.
Review AIA G702/G703 payment applications for accuracy against contract terms and funding requirements.
Confirm subcontractor billing aligns with approved scope and contract funding.
Maintain audit‑ready files for internal review and external regulatory audits.
Track and report MWBE/SDVOB utilization to ensure participation targets are being met.
Coordinate with compliance, procurement, and subcontractors to collect certifications and reporting support.
Assist in preparation of financial statements and project cost reports for leadership and outside stakeholders.
Ensure financial practices align with GAAP and comply with New York City/State requirements.
What We’re Looking For
6+ years of experience in construction accounting, preferably in a union construction environment.
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, subcontractor billing, and AIA requisitions.
Hands‑on experience monitoring MWBE and SDVOB participation and reporting.
Familiarity with New York public agency contract requirements (SCA, DDC, NYCHA, DASNY).
Experience supporting compliance‑heavy public work and documentation requirements for funding.
Proficiency with Procore or similar construction accounting/project management software.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to partner with both finance and field teams.
Education / Credentials
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and supervisory experience.
— OR — equivalent combination of construction accounting management/supervisory experience.
CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus, not required.
