About the Role
The PPAP Engineer is responsible for creating engineering documents relating to elements of PPAP. The resource should be familiar with the requirements of various PPAP elements, AS9145 requirements and the PPAP process, and should be able to draft documents using engineering inputs from the shopfloor.
Key Responsibilities
Author PPAP documents such as Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plan, Test and Inspection Plan.
Review PPAP documents submitted by suppliers, ensuring they meet customer standards. Guide and assess suppliers on PPAP requirements and expectations, and conduct readiness reviews to drive right‑first‑time quality performance.
Support or lead the preparation and submission of PPAP documentation packages, ensuring completeness and compliance.
Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, programme management, and supply chain teams to ensure product quality is built into the design and maintained throughout the lifecycle.
Promote lessons learned, feedback loops and best‑practice integration into future APQP cycles. Support capability development and training on APQP principles.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering.
3–6 years of related engineering experience.
Proven experience with APQP and PPAP processes, ideally in the aerospace sector.
In‑depth knowledge of AS9145 and related standards (e.g., AS9100, AS9102).
Experience with FMEA, MSA, Control Plans and Capability Analysis.
Experience managing suppliers or participating in supplier development activities.
Software skills: MS Excel, Word, Net‑Inspect, MS Project (added advantage).
Location On‑site in Indianapolis, IN.
Salary Range $80,000 – $90,000 per year.
