The Department of Medical Education (DME) in the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) is headed by Dr. Bryan Bognar, Chair & Vice Dean for Educational Affairs. The department oversees the Undergraduate Medical Education program, Graduate programs curriculum, and related student services. DME consists of 17 faculty members and approximately 50 administrators/staff. Its primary clients include medical, DPT, PA, doctoral, post‑doc, master’s students, and faculty stakeholders across USF Health and related institutions. Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assessment and Evaluation Director to lead a comprehensive program evaluation system and oversee student assessment activities within MCOM. The director will develop and implement evaluation strategies for continuous quality improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with faculty to design innovative student assessments. Responsibilities
Faculty development on exam question writing and evaluation design. Oversee assessment and evaluation staff within the Department of Medical Education. Manage MCOM’s program evaluation system to meet accreditation standards and achieve programmatic outcomes. Oversee evaluation design for courses, clerkships, and institutional programming. Identify improvement areas and recommend solutions based on data outcomes. Maintain and share evaluation reports with senior leadership, institutional committees, and stakeholders. Review formative and summative assessment methods and collaborate on innovative improvements. Oversee clinical knowledge assessments across all four years of the curriculum. Develop a novel assessment program to ensure all MD students meet the AAMC’s Entrustable Professional Activities at graduation. Manage and maintain institutional data warehouses for data integrity and alignment with assessment needs. Enhance dashboards for reporting and decision‑making across academic units using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms. Collaborate with stakeholders to design new dashboards reflecting evolving priorities and key performance indicators. Partner with IT to optimize data flows and improve usability of assessment data systems. Collaborate with the curricular team on educational scholarship to produce presentations and publications highlighting assessment innovations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
MINIMUM
• PhD with experience in evaluation and assessment or master’s in educational research with extensive experience in medical education assessment and evaluation. • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. • Minimum 5 years of prior administrative and supervisory experience in medical education evaluation or assessment and in team/program building. • Minimum 5 years of other educational assessment experience. • Academic credentials supporting appointment at the assistant professor rank. • Experience with survey design and multiple‑choice exam design. • Proficiency in statistical analysis using SAS, SPSS, R, or similar. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and reporting. Preferred
• Minimum 7 years of prior administrative and supervisory experience in medical education evaluation or assessment and team/program building. • Minimum 7 years of other educational assessment experience. • Expertise in programmatic evaluation, assessment program design, and collaboration with informatics teams.
