The Department of Astronomy at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, invites applications for a
Lecturer
position to begin
August 16, 2026 . This is a full‑time, nine‑month, non‑tenure‑accruing position, renewable on a yearly basis. Applications must be received by
December 17, 2025 .
Teaching Responsibilities: • Teach a combination of introductory and upper‑level astronomy courses (three courses in Fall and three in Spring). • Support and expand experiential learning throughout the curriculum, including telescope site visits, direct research participation, and development of internship programs. • Contribute to the department’s initiatives such as CLAS Beyond 120 and UF Quest.
Research and Facilities: Access to UF’s research telescopes (including the 10.4‑m Gran Telescopio Canarias, the Dharma survey telescope, and the MINERVA Australis array), HiPerGator supercomputer, and the newly founded Astraeus Space Institute.
Qualifications: • A Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or a closely related field (required). • Demonstrated teaching experience and commitment to teaching excellence. • Experience in experiential learning methods is preferred.
Preferred:
Ph.D. in Astronomy or Astrophysics by the start date.
Complete curriculum vitae, including a list of publications.
Statement of teaching experience and interests.
Research statement summarizing qualifications, past research, and future plans.
References (names and email addresses of at least three references; letters to be submitted by Jan. 8, 2026).
