Role: Staff Accountant Hiring Type: Direct Hire Location: DC Office: Hybrid schedule Pay: $60000 - $65000 / Hour Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
Position Overview The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on nonprofit accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience using QuickBooks, a Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting, and 1-4 years of experience.
Requirements
Experience with in construction, preferably residential
Experience with a large ERP system
Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting
Key Responsibilities
Perform general accounting functions
Prepare journal entries for review by the Accounting Director
Track international wires as needed to ensure successful payment, including interacting with bank personnel, vendors and staff
Prepare invoices as needed
Prepare multiple cost allocation schedules monthly
Assist the Accounting Director in research as needed
Assist in the preparation of the annual financial audit and intermittent programmatic audits
Assist in the preparation of the 990 and related activities
Ensure adherence to established procedures and internal controls
Ensure compliance with sponsoring agency regulations
Support the Accounting Director with various other activities and projects, as needed
Act as a backup for various accounting functions as needed
Accounts Payable/Receivable.
Qualifications
1-4 years of accounting experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization
Bachelor Degree in finance or accounting (Required)
Experience of dealing with full cycle accounting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
