Location Hybrid schedule with remote flexibility. Can be based at any regional office: Lenexa (KS), Lone Tree (CO), Houston (TX), Detroit (MI), Phoenix (AZ), Chattanooga (TN), Charlotte (NC), Raleigh (NC), Boston (MA), Woodcliff Lake (NJ), or New York City (NY).

Responsibilities

Lead projects and teams, delivering electrical designs and 3D models for power generation projects using SmartPlant 3D and Navisworks.

Design component and complete system layouts: duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding, and lighting systems from concept to completion, utilizing engineering documents, sketches, or vendor data.

Generate raceway, lighting and power plans, sections, P&IDs, and perspective drawings from the 3D model.

Manage schedule, scope, budgets, and forecasts for assigned projects; lead team meetings and report progress and issues to the project lead.

Coordinate with the project team using the Project Database for review processes, holds lists, ECNs, and RFIs.

Develop 3D models using drawings, sketches, and design skills, checking for interferences and constructability, while mentoring junior staff.

Route electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule.

Model electrical components using vendor submittals and designs.

Perform calculations to verify conduit and cable tray fill according to NEC requirements and size pull boxes.

Gather information to develop designs and verify voltage separation requirements.

Create plan drawings and details for electrical deliverables.

Inspect and construct designs while adhering to electrical quality standards and department procedures.

Check designs for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements before submission.

Resolve checked drawings and respond to comments.

Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project development.

Act as a field resource to assist construction with field resolution on issues.

Qualifications

10+ years of electrical component and systems design experience, including recent experience with electrical physical design (circuit and raceway) in Power or heavy industry.

Highly proficient in 3D modeling, preferably SmartPlant 3D; proficiency in other CAD tools is acceptable.

Experience in power generation electrical design is preferred.

Experience generating raceway, lighting, and power plans, sections, P&IDs, and perspective drawings from the 3D model.

Ability to manage schedule, scope, budgets, and forecasts for assigned projects and lead team meetings.

Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to mentor junior designers.

Experience working with budgeting, scheduling, and forecasting is required for Lead Electrical Designers.

Working Conditions Regular, reliable attendance; meet deadlines; communicate professionally; perform work safely; work during normal operating hours; may work at various locations; overtime and weekends as required.

Compensation and Benefits Base Compensation: $104,000 / yr – $150,000 / yr. Actual compensation varies with experience, education, skillset, and location.
