Job Description Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Housekeeping Supervisor, the person in this position is responsible for wall washing, floor maintenance, carpet cleaning, trash collection, handling and disposal of solid and biohazardous waste in assigned areas, and operation of the San‑I‑Pak machine. May perform Housekeeping Assistant functions and other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification.

Strips and refinishes floors, moves furniture, applies stripping solution, agitates with scrubbing machine, vacuums up soiled solution, applies rinse, vacuums up rinse, applies undercoat, applies wax, polishes with machine, returns furniture and sets up room. Floor care includes baseboards, doorways and corners. Clean equipment used and report any needed repairs. Observe and practice established hospital safety regulations. Use safety shoes at all times.

Operates a commercial vacuum cleaner and attachments for floors, walls, furniture, and high dusting; may include use of a floor polishing buffer.

Collects and separates different waste streams utilizing assistance pulling device for delivery to dock. Dispose using appropriate equipment (e.g., trash compactor, lift systems, tipper).

Performs daily operation of medical waste treatment unit: running loads, putting liners into chambers and carts, separating and placing cardboard into compactor, performing monthly quality control testing; monitor proper segregation of medical waste.

Maintains wall washing equipment with daily cleaning and proper storage. Uses supplies as directed. Safeguards materials by proper storage. Keeps adequate wall washing supplies on hand, including special flat head mop.

May perform Housekeeping Assistant duties as assigned.

Observes and practices standard precautions and hospital established safety regulations and procedures.

Recognizes and eliminates potential hazards associated with adults and children.

Reports needed minor repairs of rooms (laboratories, offices, rest rooms, furnishings and equipment, etc.) and maintains equipment, supplies and materials by frequent cleaning and proper storage.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Must be able to successfully complete in‑service orientation and continuing education training programs.

Experience: 6 months in a hospital or procedural setting.

License/Certification: None required.

Knowledge

Ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships with a diverse population.

Ability to learn to skillfully finish floors (application of wax and polishing).

Ability to perform varied manual cleaning and related labor; lift, push, operate, and maintain equipment used; keep simple records.

Ability to prioritize work assignments and use time efficiently.

Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the job.

Ability to work effectively as a team player.

Knowledge of methods, equipment and materials used in washing walls, floor care and maintenance, and waste disposal.

Skills: Cleaning and finishing floors (vacuuming and mopping floors, spray buffing, wax and polish); stripping and refinishing floors; cleaning interior and exterior windows; washing large areas of wall surfaces.

Pay Range Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Hourly: $32.70 to $36.56
