We’re looking to add a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer located in

Henrico, VA . The role reports to the Director of Engineering and works closely with sales, project managers, procurement, production, quality assurance, and other engineers to analyze feedback from customers and produce or modify product designs.

Typical Day

Meeting with stakeholders to establish requirements for new or existing products or mechanical systems.

Collaborating with a team of engineers and CAD designers on engineering projects.

Mentoring junior members of the mechanical design team.

Working from concept development through to ensuring plans meet client needs and engineering standards.

Adhering to project timelines.

Developing and refining processes and standards for mechanical design deliverables.

Using CAD software such as AutoCAD Inventor and/or Solidworks to create drawing specifications.

Creating designs that meet applicable regulations, client specifications, industry standards, and company norms.

Producing designs focused on manufacturability and assembly while maintaining electrical system reliability and availability.

Creating prototypes, testing them, and analyzing the results.

Submitting project deliverables to stakeholders.

Providing support throughout the building process to ensure design specifications are met.

Analyzing manufacturing problems and recommending solutions.

Presenting professionally to clients and executive-level decision makers.

Managing change control.

Occasional travel and availability outside of normal business hours may be required.

Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering approved by the ABET accreditation board.

Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.

Demonstrable knowledge of UL 891 Switchboards, UL 1558 Metal-Enclosed Low-Voltage Power Circuit Breaker Switchgear, UL 67 Panelboards, UL 857 Busway, UL 1008 Transfer Switch Equipment, and UL 62368/60950 Information Technology Equipment.

Experience designing electrical power distribution systems is preferred.

Proficiency with Solidworks, AutoCAD Inventor, and Vault, as well as MS Office applications.

Strong problem‑solving skills and excellent mathematical understanding.
