The College of Education and Department of Counseling strive to develop a deep understanding of and respect for all students and colleagues. We encourage applications from professionals who help us achieve these goals. Description of Work
This 9‑month tenure‑track position is in the Department of Counseling, a CACREP‑accredited program with three areas: Addiction Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Counseling. The successful candidate will teach, advise, and mentor graduate students, particularly those with an addictions focus, and contribute to curriculum development. Faculty responsibilities include: Teaching, advising, supervising, and mentoring students in MA and PhD counseling programs. Actively engaging in research and scholarly activities in counselor education. Seeking externally funded research grants. Serving on and directing dissertation committees. Providing service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department, College, and University. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Appreciated qualifications and expectations include: Earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP‑accredited university. Ability to contribute to the CACREP core and addiction counseling specialty. Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a licensed clinical mental health counselor and licensed clinical addiction specialist (or associate). Experience working with diverse client populations. Promise of excellent teaching, sustainable research, and outreach/engagement. Commitment to obtaining external grant funding. Involvement in professional counseling organizations. Teaching experience at the university level (preferred). Missing the terminal degree will be considered if evidence of completion by August 15, 2026, is provided. Special Notes to Applicants
