Assistant/Associate Professor – Addiction Counseling
Department: Counseling, College of Education, UNC Charlotte. Position Number: 004889. Employment: 9‑month tenure‑track, full‑time, permanent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach, advise, supervise, and mentor students in the MA and PhD counseling programs, especially those focusing on addictions.
Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall addictions program.
Engage in research and other scholarly activities in counselor education.
Seek externally funded research grants.
Serve on and direct dissertation committees.
Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department, College, and University.
Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP‑accredited university (or ABD with evidence of degree completion by Aug 15 2026).
Ability to contribute to the CACREP core and addiction counseling specialty.
Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a licensed clinical mental health counselor and licensed clinical addiction specialist (or associate).
Experience working with a variety of client populations.
Demonstrated promise of excellent teaching, sustainable research, and service/outreach/engagement.
Experience at the university level (preferred).
Involvement in professional counseling organizations.
Commitment to obtaining external grant funding to support research.
Necessary Licenses/Certifications
Earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP‑accredited university.
Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina as a licensed clinical mental health counselor and licensed clinical addiction specialist (or associate).
