is seeking an experienced

Project Accountant

for a hybrid contract-to-hire opportunity in

Seattle, WA . This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive professional who enjoys working closely with operations and project management teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting across multiple projects. The Project Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls to support strategic business goals. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all financial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring accurate setup, billing, and reporting

Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and actual costs to identify variances and support corrective actions

Prepare and review project financial reports and dashboards for management review

Collaborate with project managers to ensure proper cost allocation and revenue recognition

Maintain project contracts, change orders, and billing schedules in the accounting system

Manage billing cycles, including progress billing, milestone billing, and time & materials invoicing

Reconcile project-related general ledger accounts and ensure accurate month-end close

Assist with project audits and compliance documentation

Track project cash flow, analyze profitability, and support forecasting processes

Work with cross-functional teams (finance, operations, procurement) to improve project accounting processes

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in project or job cost accounting

Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and GAAP

Proficiency in Excel and project-based ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Deltek, NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle)

Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams

CPA or PMP certification a plus

Schedule: Hybrid work model (3 days onsite in Seattle, 2 days remote per week)
