Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Behavioral Medicine Consultant to join our health care team in a Consultant-Liaison capacity. This role will focus on evaluating and diagnosing health plan members in primary care who present with mental disorders or behavioral conditions influenced by their medical conditions. Key Responsibilities: Apply principles of Health Psychology to create, implement, and assess treatment plans for referred members, incorporating interventions such as crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, psychoeducation groups, and brief case management. Conduct concise intake evaluations and develop treatment plans while maintaining thorough and confidential progress records in accordance with state regulations and NCQA guidelines. Educate and support members and their families, promoting adherence to both medical and behavioral treatment plans. Jointly manage medical conditions using non-pharmacologic and behavioral strategies to optimize the use of physician resources and improve care patterns. Administer and assess psychological and neuropsychological testing on a limited basis. Cooperate with physicians to screen and evaluate patients for psychotropic medication, consistent with the scope of practice. Provide training and consultation to members of the Allied Health Professional (APC) team regarding mental health, behavioral medicine, and health psychology. Contribute to program development, conducting evaluations and outcome assessments as necessary. Act as a liaison, referring to the Psychiatry Department, Chemical Dependency Services, Behavioral Health Education, and other specialty teams as appropriate. Qualifications: Basic: Possession of a psychologist license in California within 6 months of hire. National Provider Identifier required at hiring. Additional: Experience with diagnosis, crisis intervention, brief individual and group therapy, and collaboration with medical staff. Strong knowledge of state regulations and APA standards relating to client treatment and confidentiality. Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented and primary care environment. If not CA licensed at hiring, must be licensed in another U.S. state and able to practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946 (for a maximum of 180 days subject to regulation specifics). Ability to thrive in a Labor/Management Partnership atmosphere. Preferred: Familiarity with psychopharmacology and a background in health psychology is preferred. Full-time, 40 hours per week, Day shift; available on Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat (variable hours from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM).
