We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven
Plumbing/Mechanical Estimator
to join our clients commercial construction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids for plumbing and mechanical (wet side) systems on large-scale commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on trade or engineering experience, strong knowledge of construction drawings and specifications, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, field teams, vendors, and clients.
As a key contributor to our pre-construction process, you will ensure every proposal is precise, timely, and competitive-helping the company secure profitable projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Responsibilities: Review and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Compile and organize solicitation documentation for bidding opportunities. Request, qualify, and evaluate pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and equipment vendors. Prepare accurate, detailed plumbing and mechanical estimates based on plans, specifications, and site conditions. Develop formal proposals for review and client submission. Review and provide guidance on proposals prepared by junior estimators. Prepare detailed project documentation for field personnel and participate in job award meetings. Collaborate with project managers during award and execution phases, including subcontractor selection, budget buyouts, change order evaluations, and claim analysis. Monitor project solicitations, coordinate labor forecasting, and communicate with field teams on staffing needs. Must-Have Qualifications: Minimum
2 years of cost estimating experience
in commercial plumbing/mechanical systems. Trade or engineering background-plumbing journeyman license or mechanical engineering experience highly preferred. Proven ability to read and interpret complex construction documents and specifications. Proficiency with
Microsoft Office Suite
(Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with
Vista Viewpoint ,
Trimble Estimation , and
Bluebeam
or similar PDF editing software. Prior work in commercial construction estimating for large-scale projects. Knowledge of current industry pricing, labor rates, and market trends. Soft Skills: Self-motivated and disciplined, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and colleagues. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities with a solutions-focused mindset. Adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Professional, positive, and collaborative attitude that contributes to a healthy workplace culture. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed. Occasional use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting job sites.
