Overview An established and rapidly growing testing laboratory in Oregon is seeking an experienced

Business Development Manager (BDM)

to drive growth within the

Extractables and Leachables (E&L)

and broader

pharmaceutical testing

market. The laboratory specializes in advanced analytical services supporting the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device sectors—providing critical data to ensure product safety, compliance, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategic business plans to expand the laboratory’s E&L client base, focusing on pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device manufacturers.

Proactively identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities while nurturing and growing existing customer relationships.

Build trusted partnerships with key decision-makers, influencers, and procurement stakeholders to understand technical requirements and long-term testing needs.

Collaborate closely with scientific, operational, and project management teams to ensure client needs are accurately captured, quoted, and delivered.

Prepare and present customized proposals, leveraging strong technical knowledge of extractables and leachables testing, materials characterization, and regulatory compliance.

Gather and analyze industry intelligence, market trends, and competitive activity to inform business development strategy.

Lead client-facing presentations, attend trade shows and professional conferences, and represent the organization in industry forums.

Maintain accurate sales activity and forecasting in CRM systems, ensuring transparency in pipeline management and reporting.

Partner with internal technical experts to cross-sell complementary laboratory services and expand share of wallet within key accounts.

Support the development of marketing and outreach initiatives targeting the pharmaceutical and life sciences testing sectors.

Requirements

5+ years

of experience in business development or technical sales within a

TIC, CRO, or analytical testing

environment.

Strong understanding of

extractables and leachables testing ,

pharmaceutical materials analysis , and

regulatory expectations (USP, ISO, FDA, ICH guidelines) .

Bachelor’s degree

in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related technical discipline (advanced degree preferred).

Demonstrated success achieving and exceeding revenue growth targets.

Ability to interpret technical testing requirements and translate them into commercial proposals.

Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact confidently at all organizational levels.

Skilled in

Microsoft Office

and CRM platforms (e.g., Dynamics, Salesforce).

Willingness to travel up to

50%

to engage with clients, attend conferences, and support key account activities.
