Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing, and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers, and industrials throughout the U.S. The firm works on system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.
Responsibilities Conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new and upgraded transmission lines, including material procurement and construction support through line energization. Work under the direction and mentorship of a senior engineer to develop design calculations, detailed drawings, specifications, and other documents for the construction of power line facilities. Create project scope documents; perform finite element design modeling with PLS-CADD; design structures and foundations; develop loading, framing, foundation, and plan & profile drawing sets; create staking sheets, sag charts, and other construction exhibits; produce material and construction specifications; and perform additional design tasks as needed. Assist with planning and execution of projects, client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of designers, drafters, and support staff.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering; 2+ years’ design engineering or project engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules. A PE license or commitment to progress towards licensure is preferred. Fundamental knowledge of transmission engineering principles, applicable codes, standards, and design tools is required. Experience with basic project management execution skills and ability to oversee design personnel is a plus. Applicant may be subject to client‑mandated drug and background checks. Occasional travel/driving is required; the applicant will be subject to ECI’s auto‑insurance carrier requirements.
