Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultancy providing engineering, system planning, studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing, and construction services to electric utilities and energy developers across the U.S. ECI serves projects with system voltages ranging from 4.16 kV to 765 kV.
Responsibilities
Develop the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations.
Coordinate material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization.
Create and deliver physical, electrical, civil, and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits, and specifications.
Assist the Project Manager in planning and executing projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, and project quality assurance.
Oversee design engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff, and coordinate specialized tasks with ECI’s subject‑matter‑expert discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, SCADA Integration, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right‑of‑Way, and Project Management/Controls.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
6+ years of project and design engineering experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet fast‑paced project schedules.
Advanced knowledge of power engineering principles, applicable codes, standards, and design tools.
Basic project management execution skills and experience overseeing design personnel.
Experience in the utility or merchant power industry is a plus.
PE license preferred.

Occasional travel/drawing required.
