Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist supports students by assessing and addressing needs in the areas of motor performance, daily living skills, sensory integration, perception, neuromuscular development, and pre-vocational skills. This role provides direct therapy and consultation services in compliance with students' IEPs, collaborating closely with teachers, families, and other professionals to ensure student success in the least restrictive environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Complete thorough and timely Occupational Therapy assessments in the areas noted above. • Assess students referred for evaluation using appropriate testing instruments. • Write comprehensive reports reflecting standardized tests and observations, including clear, actionable recommendations. • Ensure evaluations are performed within state and federal timelines. • Provide therapy and consultation services based on individual student needs and in alignment with each child's IEP. • Deliver services in the least restrictive setting possible. • Help design and adapt specialized equipment, including writing and feeding tools, to support student needs. • Maintain records of therapy plans, notes for each session, and accurate attendance documentation. • Develop, update, and follow both daily and weekly schedules. • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director/Supervisor of Special Education or designee.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Demonstrated ability to assess occupational therapy needs and develop effective intervention plans. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing. • Ability to collaborate with teachers and families to support student progress. • Knowledge of special education documentation and the TEAM evaluation process. • Organizational and time management skills to handle caseloads efficiently. • Commitment to maintaining detailed and accurate records. • Proficiency in English; bilingual candidates preferred. • Commitment to cultural proficiency and equity in educational practices.
Qualifications & Requirements: • Master's Degree with a major in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. • Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals. • A minimum of one year of experience working with children in a school setting preferred. • Demonstrated ability to consult effectively with teachers and parents. • Experience with special education documentation and TEAM evaluation process. • Proficient in English; bilingual preferred.
